Quarantined

For All We Know
by higman

I have a lifetime
and 4 hours left to sleep
A little while longer left
held up in my keep
Don’t feel the outside
When I can’t feel within
How much of this is the real world
How much of it is sin

As ashes to ashes
and dust is to dust
I’m questioning the questions
as the answers lose touch
These are our life times
the times that try our souls
while our hearts beat as one
for all that we know
for all that we know

Ive heard it all before
But then again
When you have heard til your sore
Silence is your friend
We all have a lifetime
But just how long Spock, how long
til we humble to the right mind
Breaking habits that are wrong
~
The rains came back last night in my sleep and washing my dreams not come true
I woke up to live another daydream
In a lifetime I never knew
To pray for sleep
is the oddest thing
to ask from a creator so far
We’re all just too tired to change our ways
Too twisted to admit how hard
~
As ashes to ashes
and dust is to dust
I’m questioning the questions
as the answers lose touch
These are our life times
the times that try our souls
while our hearts beat as one
for all that we know
for all that we know

We All Learn To Love The Sun (Song version)
by higman

We’re forced to use our simple glances
To know a smile from what pierces
We’re forced to conform on any given day
while we all share in the same old fashion way

Still the sun comes up
along the stretch of highway
Next to the old road I use to take
For now it’s best if I just look straight ahead
while hope rests in the shape of a bed

Things are the same but different
A mile is still a mile where I come from
Plagues have new meanings in the course of a lifetime
But when all in this world is said and done
We all learn to love the sun
We all learn to love the sun

Grandma used to watch over the birds
like they were all part of our herd
Hers were the eyes that had seen it all
Life’s picture has no real frame at all

Never hate, she said, it’s such a bad word
It digs in places you can’t imagine
Instead smell the coffee in morning
It opens what the night trapped your mind in

Still the sun comes up
along the stretch of highway
Next to the old road I use to take
For now it’s best if I just look straight ahead
while hope rests in a the shape of a bed

Things are the same but diffberent
A mile is still a mile where I come from
Plagues have new meanings in the course of a lifetime
But when all in this world is said and done
We all learn to love the sun
We all learn to love the sun

Deep Indigo

by higman

In the Deep Indigo of your eyes / I see the years that have gone by/ They shine of all those times/ we’ve said “I love you” //Looking back it’s not the same/ no matter how many times I think of your name/ I only have myself to blame/ for not being able to be there for you// Face to face is the only way/ and as long as we don’t turn away/ as our eyes always meet/ there still a love in there/ that remembers the times we used to share/ and no matter how many years go by/ I’ll always see us inside/ the deep indigo of your eyes

Oh, if I could write you the song…but I am only the lyricist. Welcome to Lyricsunsung. Feel free to explore the menu button above. What you will find within this site are the musings I have gotten from everyday life. From the rants to the lyrical, it has been the way I have bled my observations in thought most of my life. From Christ to cussing, we all are human and I try to embrace that first, without bias. My inspirations in music come from years as a DJ, my appreciation of the art of music, and the discipline of following the spirit as it may move me to write. Most of the lyrics come with a genre as I hear them in my head. Complete with structure, breaks, and primary instruments used, some of my writings one might be able to pick out the feel, If you listen closely. However I normally leave that to the reader to decide. If you want to inquire about the piece itself, by all means, just go ahead and ask me. I can sing, play a little guitar, pick out on a piano, and know my way around percussion, primarily congas. But I don’t read music so for now, I wait. If only I could find someone talented enough to write music to my words, mmmmm? Until than, they always be lyrics unsung.

Enjoy what’s in the menu on the top of page and welcome again to LYRICSUNSUNG,

Holiday

by higman

I’ll take the silent joy of the Lord,
to fill the holes left in family for the holidays.
Gathered together with a host of angels, it beautifully drowns out the deafening loneliness.
Memories should not be all that’s left at such a young age. Yet, if I close my eyes, I am comforted as I tune in closely and feel the warmth of a manger somewhere within my cold confined room. Perhaps it’s in my heart. Thank you Lord.

Songs

by higman

Songs
running through my head
they’re just songs. telling stories of the lives
of everyday people
daughters, husbands & wives

With the eyes to see
what lives and breathes
what loves and cries
about what’s good and wrong the words I say to you
just come out as songs

Nothing in this world is lacking in inspiration
I only wish I could transpose what I hear playin
the melody of a living celebration
that nothing but love composes within

Songs if you could only hear the songs when my heart whispers near with its dears & fears of our lives to show what it means to live and breathe

Its the songs of you and me

Flowers

Life
A choice of the living
Life
What binds us all as one
Life
Can be natural as giving
Life
The choice for us is done

For days she layed there looking out the window
At the view from her hospital bed
She could see each sunrise of the day
And the colors light cast every sunset
With so much going on but so little to do
She kept silent about her time
Til the moment came she spoke of views
That escaped all our minds

Are there flowers in heaven
that always just grow?
Never die like they do down here.
Are they just as beautiful?
Do the ones with thorns hurt the same
as they guard such beauty & love?
Are there flowers in Heaven
for those that need them above?

I smiled stepping back from the window that all of us seen
To look at a picture closer to a heart
How alone we can be in a crowded room
How close the finish line looks from the start

Those days of trying
Those days of rest
The routine of the living
to make each day the best
While still surrounded
by nothing but love
battling one day at a time
to understand the meaning of

There were no wrong answers to such questions that day
Only dreams about the flowers that our thoughts gave away
“Id like to think all things are possible both up there and here on Earth.”
“Yet dreams” she said, “are really never far enough from the truth.”

I still miss the face, I still miss the smile
I miss the grace for that extra mile
But were always close to the wisdom life brings
Like the way Ill never see flowers the same way again

Are there flowers in heaven
that always just grow?
Never die like they do down here.
Are they just as beautiful?
Do the ones with thorns hurt the same
as they guard such beauty & love?
Are there flowers in Heaven
for those that still need them above?

Cookies

by higman

So I’m emotional over those things I can’t control,
take to heart what I cannot hold.
I’m still curious of those things my life has sold,
I put in perspective what’s new and whats old.

It’s ok to show who we really are.
It’s whats inside us that reacts to what’s afar.
As long as were grounded as we wish upon a star,
our smiles know reality puts goodness in the cookie jar.

Even on a Wednesday

by higman

Been too damn long since I got back into life
fixin the yard
don’t pay the bills
when the hard world passes you by
even time sneaks in to steal your freewill

So I paused for a moment right there in the heat of my day
struggling to make sense of what’s going on today

~~~
I can take the time to pray
and why not ask for the big stuff
even on a Wednesday
with a weekend so far away
tomorrow will take care of itself
with little or no help from me
Lord knows my wants from my needs
so I take this time to pray
Even on a Wednesday
~~~
Nothing much happened
At least not in the spur of the moment
so I kept my eye open for any sign
Don’t know much about supernatural wonders
only the wonders of mine

so I’ll keep my hopes up
each waking day from here on out
cause like even on stormy days
up above there’s a sun
and this I have no doubt

So I paused for a moment right there in the storm of my day
struggling to make sense of what’s going on today
~~~
I can take the time to pray
and why not ask for the big stuff
even on a Wednesday
with a weekend so far away
tomorrow will take care of itself
with little or no help from me
Lord knows my wants from my needs
so I take this time to pray
Even on a Wednesday
Even on a Wednesday
I believed in love by higman I believed in love How it could change the mind How it can slow down time How it made all things fine Then I found love just tests and more Slams all your doors Drills you to the core I believed in love once When I thought I could see Thought I actually had a chance only I was decieved I believed in love Then with nowhere to turn My match of understanding had just burned Cause I believed in love i believed in love Just when you think that life maybe fair a different place lets you know I want to believe that Love makes us better But Ive only seen how lonely hearts grow Love never stays to show Love never stays to show I believed in love Then with nowhere to turn my match of understanding had just burned Cause I believed in love I believed in love
