For All We Know
by higman
I have a lifetime
and 4 hours left to sleep
A little while longer left
held up in my keep
Don’t feel the outside
When I can’t feel within
How much of this is the real world
How much of it is sin
As ashes to ashes
and dust is to dust
I’m questioning the questions
as the answers lose touch
These are our life times
the times that try our souls
while our hearts beat as one
for all that we know
for all that we know
Ive heard it all before
But then again
When you have heard til your sore
Silence is your friend
We all have a lifetime
But just how long Spock, how long
til we humble to the right mind
Breaking habits that are wrong
~
The rains came back last night in my sleep and washing my dreams not come true
I woke up to live another daydream
In a lifetime I never knew
To pray for sleep
is the oddest thing
to ask from a creator so far
We’re all just too tired to change our ways
Too twisted to admit how hard
~
As ashes to ashes
and dust is to dust
I’m questioning the questions
as the answers lose touch
These are our life times
the times that try our souls
while our hearts beat as one
for all that we know
for all that we know
We All Learn To Love The Sun (Song version)
by higman
We’re forced to use our simple glances
To know a smile from what pierces
We’re forced to conform on any given day
while we all share in the same old fashion way
Still the sun comes up
along the stretch of highway
Next to the old road I use to take
For now it’s best if I just look straight ahead
while hope rests in the shape of a bed
Things are the same but different
A mile is still a mile where I come from
Plagues have new meanings in the course of a lifetime
But when all in this world is said and done
We all learn to love the sun
We all learn to love the sun
Grandma used to watch over the birds
like they were all part of our herd
Hers were the eyes that had seen it all
Life’s picture has no real frame at all
Never hate, she said, it’s such a bad word
It digs in places you can’t imagine
Instead smell the coffee in morning
It opens what the night trapped your mind in
Still the sun comes up
along the stretch of highway
Next to the old road I use to take
For now it’s best if I just look straight ahead
while hope rests in a the shape of a bed
Things are the same but diffberent
A mile is still a mile where I come from
Plagues have new meanings in the course of a lifetime
But when all in this world is said and done
We all learn to love the sun
We all learn to love the sun
