In The Storms

It hurts too much

by higman

Why do you think I let it all go
Leaving everything I know
Only now I’m old enough to speak

To let my feelings leak
Out with words that have ravaged my heart
I don’t know if it’s right or wrong
and inside me is nothing but the sad song
It hurts too much for someone to care about me

I learned long ago how short life can be
Turned me inside out
but it let me see
a pain that I wouldn’t want anybody to go through and perhaps everyone eventually will do

I just don’t want to
have to worry about anybody worrying
It hurts too much for someone to care about me

To walk hand-in-hand with feeling’s mutual
I thought I knew the depth of a soul
Someone with willingness to carry it through

But commitments and contracts aren’t what they used to be
we all grow out of Pinky promises and forget what it was meant to be

I learned a long ago how short life can be

turn me inside out
but it let me see

a pain that I wouldn’t want anybody to go through and perhaps everyone eventually will do I just don’t want to have to worry about anybody worrying it hurts too much for someone to care about me

Together

You can say you love me but don’t say that you love me/ I’ve heard those words before/ don’t get me wrong I really want to take it in/ but I have nowhere left to store / unless you can find my heart/ I lost it a while ago to another that said the same thing as you/ but didn’t love me enough when hard time came fallin/ the way they often do

~
When hard times come/ it shows the measure of true love/ it tests the commitment vows once spoke of/
between two loving people/ each playing a part/ how to hold together each other’s heart/ with God’s grace all things are possible/ or so we were told/ but somehow we lose sight about growing old, together!

Growing old, together.

You can say you love me but don’t say that you love me/ I’ve heard those words before/ theres moments in our lives/ we reflect on our elders times/ I may be old fashion but I thought there was always more/ despite all odds, I’ve always seen an unconditional door/ we all serve a purpose and fall short many times/ but my forgiveness has never shown a fine line

You can say you love me but don’t say that you love me/ I’ve heard those words before/ and unless you’re willing to see what life brings I can’t offer you any more/ I don’t know how to after my trials and errors/ even when I tried to do right it challenged my prayers/ you may find some warmth in me and you may find cold/ so if that’s enough for you /we can walk together till you think its getting old
