The Stroll

Hand in Hand

by higman

It’s trying to snow/ it’s on the cusp/ what do you know/ its just like us/
we go from hot to cold/
with no sense in between/
our life copacetic seems pathetic/
as it’s stuck in a routine

Tell me you like me once in awhile/ to give your words of love new meaning/
kiss my neck and look into my eyes/ to show me you’re still wanting/
I’ll show you the world that we started off on together/
or we can just hold each other where we stand/ you just show me your still willing/
I’ll meet you
hand in hand

Come rain,
Come shine/
We follow destiny/
Not just yours or mine/
Whether or not we choose to find/
my decision is totally comfortable/
Holding you close in our time

Tell me you like me once in awhile/ to give your words of love new meaning/
kiss my neck and look into my eyes/ to show me you’re still wanting/
I’ll show you the world that we started off on together/
or we can just hold each other where we stand/ you just show me your still willing/
I’ll meet you
hand in hand

Longest Kiss
by higman

Appreciation
To quantify another’s life like it’s your own

Destination
To signify a time & place as home

We’re all sold out
to a life of our own
Understanding were not all alone
So don’t think you are by yourself
when I’m right here by your side
You must remember this Who gave you your longest kiss?

As days & nights are short or long

We find ourselves survivors in peculiar ways

When we question just how strong we are

Love lifts us up to show how we're made

Appreciation
To quantify another’s life like it’s your own

Destination
To signify a time & place as home

We’re all sold out
to a life of our own
Understanding were not all alone
So don’t think you’re by yourself
when I’m right here by your side
You must remember this
Who gave you your longest kiss

Still, Not a day Goes By
by higman

I could have shut out the world
Walked alone in these deserted streets
Lost myself in a life I created
But each time the sun goes up
or at night when stars come out
Seems real time has vacated

Still, still, not a day goes by
I don’t see through my own eyes
upon a world without you in it
It’s filled with everything
under the sun
Still not a day goes by
I don’t miss our love

I learned to walk when I was a child
put away my toys as a man
Embrace the pain through more tears I could number
Tried my best to understand what I could never ever control
Tried to forget the nightmares time forced me to remember

But now and then those moments come along
When whatever’s normal seems to enter my day
Yet it doesn’t take much of a lul
before I hear that little voice inside me say

Still, still, not a day goes by
I don’t see through my own eyes
upon a world without you in it
It’s filled with everything
under the sun
Still not a day goes by
I don’t miss our love

Bonfire

by higman

If I was to write you straight from my heart to your soul,
would it still get lost in translation?
Would the passion lose itself finding your destination?
Did you move so far away from where we once were that the island getaway that was our love is nowhere to be found?
I don’t believe it.
Not for one moment.
A love like we had doesn’t just disappear. A bonfire may slowly burn to ashes but not before the coals contain what was once there.
It’s easy to turn away and deny the flames but the heat burned with our names.

Like a Bonfire

It’s about time

by higman

To want somebody/
When you feel nobody/
When there’s no other/
soul you feel near/

Try to shine/
The light denied / like there’s no other/ that knows your fear

It’s about time
It’s about you
It’s about what’s right
What’s right to do
It’s about time
To do what you do
Do your best
That you can find
It’s about time

Think
by higman

How can you not tell how powerful love is
Through the years and such few tears
There were so many good times
So much love

How can we ignore what was between us
The moments we shared should far outweigh times paired as we were stretched below and above

Think of all the good times
Think of what we had
Think of mountains we stood in awe of together
Think of reaching out when we were in the valleys sad
Things go bump in the night that makes us hold tight
Think of the thought
It’s still love at first sight
It’s still love at first sight

That’s what started it all though we had seen each other before
As our eyes met and opened another door
One we had hoped for our whole life through
That’s still what I think of
When I think of you

Inspirations only come from hearts in tune

Inspirations only come from hearts in tune

Think of all the good times
Think of what we had
Think of mountains we stood in awe of together
Think of reaching out when we were in the valleys sad
Things go bump in the night that makes us hold tight
Think of the thought
It’s still love at first sight
It’s still love at first sight

Heart of Hope

by higman

Still think of you
Still think of you
Whether your far away
from time and the present
the trace of what could be
lingers in my presence
The candlelight it shows
Lights up a room
I’ll only know
In my heart of hope
In my heart of hope
Still think of you
Still think of you

Sing to me softly so the words feel like a touch
I miss it so much

Every syllable, every vowel,
rolling across my skin,
sending shivers on top and a deep sigh within.

Sing to me softly

let me know everything’s alright
and throughout the night
let the sound surround me,

cradling me to sleep,
in an invisible blanket as I nod off the deep.

Sing to me softly of words so free,

like what it used to be you and me.

Isolate the feel before life became real,
that we may remember beyond any virus, memories of us.

We All Learn To Love The Sun
by higman

We’re forced to use our simple glances
So know what’s a smile and what pierces
We’re forced to conform on each particular day
while we all share now in the same old fashion way

The sun still comes up
along the stretch of highway
Next to the old road I use to take
For now it’s simpler if I just look straight ahead
while hope rests in a the shape of a bed

Things are the same but different
A mile is still a mile where I come from
Plagues have new meanings in the course of a lifetime
But when all in this world is said and done
We all learn to love the sun
We all learn to love the sun

Grandma watched over the birds
like they were all part of our herd
She was the eyes that had seen time fall
Life’s picture really has no frame at all

Never hate, she said, it’s such a bad word
It digs in places you can’t imagine
Instead smell the coffee in morning
It opens what the night trapped your mind in

When we understand beyond what makes us tick
Then the flowers grow any time of the year
A garden of peace grows all the time in bliss
In our complicated neighborhood of fear

The sun still comes up
along the stretch of highway
Next to the old road I use to take
For now it’s simpler if I just look straight ahead
while hope rests in a the shape of a bed

Things are the same but different
A mile is still a mile where I come from
Plagues have new meanings in the course of a lifetime
But when all in this world is said and done
We all learn to love the sun
We all learn to love the sun

Not For Me

by higman

I was judged by you well, but you found no hell,
Only your own eyes looking back at you.
Your understanding was forthright
but try as you might
to reflect on you, you wouldnt do

Not for me
After all I searched into my own soul
Your love only went so far
Your fear into your own window after looking into mine was clear as glass to see
I did it for you
But your just not willing
Not for me

I want to believe
It was what I percieved
A love and soulmate I found in you

I can only taste the water
I’d even share a drink
If from my lips you would taste love to continue the beginnings again, but

Not for me
After all I searched into my own soul
Your love only went so far
Your fear into your own window after looking into mine was clear as glass to see
I did it for you
But your just not willing
Not for me

It’s in your eyes I see every time we’ve laughed/ I’ve seen every time we’ve cried/ I can see all the places we’ve gone to and the dreams of what can be/ and as they look in every picture/ I know they can still see you in me/ so much room to grow/ never heeding the need/ how did we ever just get so so/ when we never took time to stand/ I’m speaking softly my love So Soft Only Angels May Hear/ as God is my witness/ I wish you were near
Each day we might remember more/ or hope to forget less/ either way it’s just our wilderness/ there is but one Grace that covers our free will/ and there’s onl one face that I long to feel/

It’s in your eyes/ I see every time we’ve laughed/ I’ve seen every time we’ve cried/ I can see all the places we’ve gone to/ and the dreams of what can be/ and as they look in every picture/ I know they can still see you in me/ so much room to grow/ never heeding the need/ how did we ever just get so so/ when we never took time to stand/ I’m speaking softly my love/ So Soft Only Angels May Hear/ as God is my witness/ I wish you were near

If only I couldby higman
There’s a beauty that only comes around in a moment when it’s captured later on  it’s not the same it’s never really lost it’s just a beauty by another name
The very thought of you reminds me what it means to beLike the light of the stars or the moon reflecting back to my eyes to see
If I could relive any moment in the past/ with all the wonders that have happened in this world/Without a question of shouldn’t or should/I’d go back to the moment we met/ once again/If only I could
There are fables there are prayers there are stories that can be told there are Kodak moments that turn to ash in a fireBut they’re never really lost they are burned in our memory until we are old
If I could relive any moment in the past/ with all the wonders that have happened in this world/Without a question of shouldn’t or should/It’s any moment I spent with you in my life/if only I could

Pinnacle
by higman

I reached my pinnacle of love
I knew when I met you I was on top
Now without you near
I’ll just be alone sitting here
Not worth my time going down
Not wanting anyone else around

Seeing the sunrise and set each day
The hours just go around me in the same way
The nights, as quiet as they are
Gives my wishes time to choose any star

I reached my pinnacle of love when I met you
Without a doubt
my mind has come around full view
Should I forever be the fool on the hill
Praying to God what my mind spills
It’s ok with me too
I could never reach a higher love on Earth
than with you

I don’t know.
I don’t want to leave.
I don’t want to ever lose my face again.
It’s such a quiet evening,
autumns on its way,
but I don’t want summer to ever end.
Feeling the warmth on my own.
Learning to be new.
I don’t know.
I don’t want to leave.
Until I’m down with how you make one of two.
How you make one of two.
~
And this whole thing about a virus,
just got things f* up.
If you want to live it up or just want to fill your cup.
The world’s very strange.
To say the least. As if the Beast of just living wasn’t
already having us as a feast.
Already having us as a feast.
~
I don’t know I don’t want to leave.
I don’t want to ever lose my face again.
It’s such a quiet evening,
autumns on its way, but I don’t want summer to ever end.
I’ll lock myself away, until I learn the way
a caterpillar becomes a butterfly.
Don”t ask me why
Cuz it has nothing to do with me.
It’s not my time to leave.
Until I’m down with how you make one of two.
How you make one of two.

That’s It
by higman

Some people look for signs above and all around/ some people take notice of coincidental sound/
some people take fate as it is questioning with verse/
some find the balance between rocks in the universe/
I do believe there are times that are meant to be/ whether karma’s involved I do not see/

If I can’t have you, then that’s it for me/
if it means for a lifetime, then that’s the way it must be/
I’ve spent a lot of time, more time that I’ve ever known on my knees/ taking apart prayers, separating wants from needs/
I have weighed the pros and cons, counting cards that life has dealt/
there is no other mood or emotion to be felt/ walking through life with or without you/
is the only walk there will ever be/
If I can’t have you, then that’s it for me/

Some people move from here to there/
Some people are incapable to care/
Some people only use their eyes/
some have ran out of lies/
people go through their time given seeing that open door/ when all it does is lead to more/

There comes a point when you stand and enjoy the view/
The colors of the world are still vivid as before/
But once you have shared them with a soulmate/
With or without them, you need not look anymore

If I can’t have you, then that’s it for me/
if it means for a lifetime, then that’s the way it must be/
I’ve spent a lot of time, more time that I’ve ever known on my knees/ taking apart prayers, separating wants from needs/
I have weighed the pros and cons, counting cards that life has dealt/
there is no other mood or emotion to be felt/ walking through life with or without you/
is the only walk there will ever be/
If I can’t have you, then that’s it for me/

I must be moving/
you always knew where to find me/
You’ll always be welcome to come along/
Otherwise that’s it for me
